Keeping to the quest, the contract if you will, I have read the Bible (that was Day 1.0, if you don’t believe me!), and now I have gotten the exercise in. I recently ran a back-to-back, part of the Bass Pro Conservation series. I ran a marathon and, six days later, ran a 50K. It was my slowest marathon time to date, but my fastest 50K. It was still slow, though. Today was the first run of the quest. If you are not sure what this whole quest thing is all about, please see Stats and Goals: Day 2.1
Anyway, the missus would like to finally run a marathon. She and I ran a pretty brutal trail half-marathon a few years ago, but she hasn’t run that much since then. Today was her first day back. We are going to train!
You can check out the run on Strava, here
So, not very speedy, but it was a nice slow aerobic workout, which is great. Plus she ran six miles after only running a few times all year. There’s nothing like a run date with your girl. Good conversation makes the time fly. A few days ago we celebrated our 22nd anniversary!
Sundries
I grilled steaks and my wife made mashed potatoes, asparagus, homemade rolls, and a pie. It was a great birthday feast! Afterward, I read chapters five and six of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe to my youngest son. It was a great section of the book where Peter and Susan, worried their little sister Lucy might be going mad. They speak with the professor, and he quickly points out that logic should guide them to trust their sister and distrust their brother, and that nothing is more probable than that other worlds exist and that they might be reached through his strange old house. The best moment comes when Susan asks the professor what they should do.
“My dear young lady,” said the Professor, suddenly looking up with a very sharp expression at both of them, “there is one plan which no one has yet suggested and which is well worth trying.”
“What’s that?” said Susan.
“We might all try minding our own business,” said he. And that was the end of that conversation.

Great advice.
When the walls come crumbling down
Last on my list was reading the Bible with my youngest. We’ve been reading through the Old Testament. Today was Joshua 6, featuring the fall of Jericho. Pretty good chapter for day one of my quest to tear down the walls of inconsistency in my life!
Tomorrow, some stats for no good reason. I guess I’m starting something new, so best to get the data for the before. Here’s to hoping the after shows some serious change!
I hope to alway help and encourage you in this! Maybe I can tear some of my own fortresses down too, they have gotten a little too elaborate.
