Stats
What good are stats? These here stats are for me, not for you, my dear nosy reader. Should have done this first thing yesterday morning, but I had such a good study in James that I forgot. Data is fun. While I have no weight-based goals, or anything, I still think it would be interesting to see what if any changes take place over the course of my one year journey. I mean to run often, workout regularly, and read the Bible and other books every day. To that end, here are some stats, then I will follow up with goals:
- Physical Stats:
- Height: 5’9″
- Weight: 172.6
- Neck: 15.5″
- Biceps: Right: 14″ Left: 14″
- Chest: 42″
- Waist: 35″
- Rump: 38″
- Thighs: (dark meat) Right: 22″ Left: 22″
- Calves: Right: 15″ Left: 15″
- Personal Records:
- 100 Miler: I haven’t run one yet! (See goals.)
- 100K: 16:47:08
- 50K: 6:24
- Marathon: (long ago) 3:33
- Pushups: (also long ago) 128
Goals
You have to have goals! Of course, the main goal is to become a consistent and disciplined man. That aside, here are my goals for the next year of life, Lord willing!
Spiritual
I figure for this one, I will use the verses in Timothy. Here’s what Paul says:
The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. 2 Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.
1 Timothy 3:1-7
There’s that sober-minded phrase again. Well, it is a noble task!
I think the list above is a solid challenge. Of course, these aren’t qualifications you can meet overnight, or even in a single year. Christ has worked in me on all of these aspects for a long time, now. Some, I have thought, “Oh, I’ll be like that when I’m older.” Turns out, I’m older now! Time to put in the hard work and discipline!
Family:
- Run at least three races together as a family: Spring, Summer, Fall.
- Take at least three camping trips as a family.
- Run a marathon with my wife.
- Grow and maintain (there’s the keyword!) a garden.
- Help my oldest get established in a trade.
- Spend time reading with the kids – some of them or all of them – every day.
Physical
- Run a 50 Miler
- Complete a 100 Miler in 24 hours or less
- 300 consecutive pushups
- 200 consecutive squats
- 30 consecutive pull ups
- Dare I say, to get abs?
Sundries
As for today, the wife and I did a body weight workout and some stretches. Small sets of Pushups, Squats, Mountain Legs, Speed Legs, and a Core Routine. I need to build up the old-man glutes, quads, and hammies so that I can avoid injuring myself out on the trail. I have a 50 Miler on the books already, but it is still half a year away. Time is my friend for now, as long as I show up every day!
Good job babe!!
