Friday: The Quest: Day 6.1

Lots of fun this Friday evening! We did a body weight workout, much like Day 2.1, but with more reps. Then we watched our nephews play in a semi-finals football game in OK. Of course, that means we watched online. Lame. I know. But, it’s better than just hearing about the game later! At halftime we did our core workout. It was fun.

First Friday in Sometime

This is my first Friday to eschew the brew in a long time. It has ever been our tradition to imbibe, watch The Office, and go to bed way too late. Not so this go-round.

After the football game and a dinner of popcorn, I read chapters 1-2 of The Magician’s Nephew to John. It was fun trying to do the voice of sinister Uncle Andrew. It’s also pretty interesting how bold in his speech young Diggory is compared to the children in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Lewis, it is a known fact, did not enjoy the company of children. How marvelous, then, that he was able to write them with such diverse personalities.

Then we read Joshua 11. Joshua defeated another round of kings and their cities. Just the sort of martial narrative that gets an 11 year old thinking hard about justice, trusting in God, and obedience to God.

Just for the record

Just to record it here so I can look back later to figure out what happened in the end, my left shoulder is quite janky, as the doctors say. Or, I imagine they would say. I rarely visit doctors. Not sure what I did to it. On Wednesday, we started to do a body weight workout, but I could not do a single pushup because of immense pain in the back of my left shoulder. I could do pushups today, but during the core workout tonight, I couldn’t even stretch my arm straight up over my head. The pain of it is like being tortured. It was so intense, and so acute, it took my breath away. Going to have to keep messing with it, stretching, etc.

Sundries

Other notes from today: Lenne and three of the kids are all ill to one degree or another with some sort of bug. So far, John and I seem to be a-okay.

That’s it. Not much to record. Just keeping tabs on myself. More tomorrow.
