For the workout today, Lenne and I ran four miles and did our core routine when we got home. It was so cold – 26 degrees! I know, for all you readers in Fargo, ND, that ain’t cold. Still, we moved here recently from San Antonio, TX, so 26 is cold! We only did four because today was a hill day. If you look at the stats, we didn’t get much elevation gain, really. The point was to run some of the steepest hills here in the neighborhood. Lenne just started back running. I am hoping to once a week go round and try to do a bunch of the steeper climbs we can find. Granted, they are all short. Gets the heart rate up, though!
You can check out the run on Strava, here.
Sundries
Tonight I read Joshua 10 with John. Joshua systematically defeated the five Amorrite kings. He had defeated their cities one by one in a single campaign. The sun halted in its course. Why? And Joshua captured all these kings and their land at one time, because the Lord God of Israel fought for Israel. (Joshua 10:42) God did the fighting. I feel that.
God does the fighting
God is definitely doing the fighting for me. He is fighting against sin, excess, inconsistency, malaise, apathy toward flies (Old SNL joke) in my life. I am only at Day 5, but I have read and studied the word, exercised, run, read with John, written, organized, gotten up at 0400, etc., each day without fail. The only drink I have indulged in thus far is an occasional Sprite Zero. He has granted me deep, uninterrupted sleep each night. Thank God.
Victus!
We also finished The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe tonight. I think John and I started last Friday.
For many of you, that is no big deal. You are probably all amazing parents. You probably read your children the entire Narnia series, one book each night for a week, and moved on to read Calvin’s Institutes with them the next week. Do you take them with you for a run each morning as well?
Not me. I have read many books to my children. But, I have always been an inconsistent rascal. Most books took months, not days. It really does seem like the sun halted, and I accomplished more in the last five days than I normally would in a month. Although it will be a while before I choose The Institutes for his bedtime story.
More tomorrow!
Thank you for reading to me too. I enjoy all your voices
My pleasure! Thank you for reading and editing my writing!
